MOTAG was founded in 1973 by a group of paper industry woodyard supervisors and their suppliers. for more than two decades, this group has met to discuss new ideas and procedures directed at handling and processing by-products. In addition, presentations and discussions have centered on mill teamwork and personnel issues, as well as understanding the new environmental agendas.

Motag Northeast provides a conduit for communications between and among the fiber supply portion of the pulp and paper, lumber, biomass and other wood related industries to hear and discuss prepared presentations covering mill woodyard design and operational problems. By the very organization of the meeting, there is ample opportunity to discuss specific problems and gain new ideas for solutions among peers and vendors.
